Girl Scout Cookie Rally is a Slam Dunk! Thank you to the nearly 1,000 Girl Scouts and their family members that attended the first-ever Girl Scout Cookie Rally on Saturday, January 12, 2008. The event took place during a University of Cincinnati women’s basketball game and we had an incredible turnout! Girl Scouts participated in games, sang songs, learned about Girl Scout camp opportunities, met members of the UC women’s lacrosse and volleyball teams, had their faces painted, and got their picture taken with the UC mascot. Each Girl Scout that attended the event also received a 2008 Girl Scout Rally patch.
All participants of the rally sampled their favorite Girl Scout Cookies and got to taste the newest cookie in our line-up: 100 Calorie Pack Cinna-Spins. They also heard from last year’s Top Sellers and learned some of the top tips that helped make their cookie sale a success. (See below for Top Tips from Top Sellers.)
We’d like to thank the University of Cincinnati for their sponsorship of the event and we look forward to making the Girl Scout Cookie Rally a tradition for years to come!
Council Sponsored Cookie Booth Update There have been a few changes to our list of council sponsored cookie booths since the initial request period last month. There have been two new council sponsored cookie booth locations added to our list: • Wal-Mart- 1275 East 2nd Street, Franklin, OH 45005 • Kroger #336-B-3033 Heritage Green Drive, Monroe, OH 45050
Also, the Sam’s Club #6528 in Eastgate (815 Clepper Lane, Cincinnati, OH 45245) is no longer a council sponsored cookie booth location. They opted to schedule their own cookie booths this year, so to reserve a cookie booth at this location you will need to contact the store directly (513-753-4865 and ask for Larry Long) and adhere to the non-council sponsored cookie booth procedures on page 22 of your cookie book.
We will continue to inform you through e-newsletters and updates on our website if any additional businesses become council sponsored cookie booth locations.
Top Tips from Top Sellers One of the favorite displays at the 2008 Girl Scout Cookie Rally was the Top Tips from Top Sellers. Here are some cookie sale tips from last year’s Top Sellers that may help your troop’s cookie sale be a success! Make a goal, it can be big or small, whatever you think you can reach, and stick to it. Keep a chart or something to keep track of your goal and put it on your fridge, bulletin board, or even your bedroom door would work. And think of something fun to do after you reach your goal, it gives you more motivation. Also, sell with some of your sister Girl Scouts. You all sell cookies and you have fun doing it. And if you have any family members who can take [your order card] to work, make sure they can see your goal there. ~ Kate Eichhorn Ask your parent or troop leader to take a picture of you in your uniform or Girl Scout t-shirt. Attach that picture along with a letter about your cookie sale goals and what your troop wants to do with the money earned. Then email the letter and the picture to out-of-town close fri ends and family members. This is a great way to sell cookies to family and friends that don’t live close by. ~ Tyler Poirier Dress up as warm as possible! Ask mom to make lots of hot coco to bring with you. Ask really, really nicely. Don’t forget about donations. ~Kasey Lehman What works for me is a great choice in your [Cookie Share organization]. We use the military and everyone loves to buy for them. We take Sharpie markers to our cookie shops and let people write messages on the boxes. This really helps our sale. ~ Haley Parker Be the best you can be. Be friendly and kind. And sign up for a lot of cookie booths. Always ask nicely. ~ Rebekah Ault Keep your order card every year. At the beginning of each new cookie sale, call those customers first and ask them if they’d like to purchase Girl Scout Cookies from you again this year. ~Kristin Lorenz Always set a realistic goal and challenge yourself and raise it as you get close to reaching it. Keep a list of your best customers and make sure you let them know when the sale starts and then make sure you go back and see them to get their order every year. Get your whole family involved. Ask everyone you know! ~ Abigail Johnson
